Cryolite has been extracted from the Greenlandic subsoil for more than 100 years. A hole in the ground near Ivittuut testifies to the history of cryolite - and to the great gains that Danes have made through grinding and industrial exploitation of the minerals. Thousands of Danish workers and functionaries have had a hard and lonely life in this place, often with diseases as a result. Who is entitled to the winnings - that question is still relevant.
