In the middle of the Cold War, France decides to loan the Mona Lisa to the United States. Charles de Gaulle tasks André Malraux with personally handing the painting over to Jackie Kennedy aboard the France, the new flagship of the French shipyards. But during the Atlantic crossing, the Mona Lisa disappears. Gripped by paranoia, Malraux launches a race against time to recover the painting and prevent an unprecedented diplomatic crisis.
