Baldy Belmont Bumps

Baldy is a traveling salesman. He goes away on business while his wife remains behind to become lonesome. She wants him to return home and writes a note to that effect. The boy she sends to the telegraph office with him hasn't enough to pay for it and so strikes out the last three words. Belmont gets the message and interprets it to mean that his wife is dying. In wild haste he tries to reach her. He hires a special train and then misses it. He jumps on a wagon and is thrown off. He rides a motorcycle and is half killed. After trying devious ways and methods he arrives at his destination only to find his spouse healthy and happy at his return. Baldy demands an explanation and when she denies having sent the message Baldy faints away.
