An awkward first aid instructor arrives in a small provincial town to teach a mandatory course to the bored employees of a once-grand villa, now a fading museum of itself. After the lesson, he finds Clara, a distant and austere civil servant, on a dating app and the two drift toward the harbor. The shoreline is populated by the usual local negligence: fishermen shouting crude remarks, a distracted mother alienated by her phone, and her young son, armed with a toy gun as his only language for attention. Amid this shabby chorus, Clara and Cosimo share a moment of surreal intimacy. For them, it may be fleeting, almost accidental. But for the silent child watching from afar, just as lonely as they are, it becomes an image that will mark him for life.
