Changing Lives - The Acting Class That Changed Everything

Directed by Scarlett Islas
Changing Lives is a deeply moving exploration of the transformative power of acting. This documentary follows a group of students as they embark on a courageous journey of self-discovery, using acting to confront fears, express vulnerability, and find healing through creative expression. Through emotionally charged exercises like "Talk to Someone Dead or Alive" and "Breakthrough," I captured raw, authentic moments that revealed the strength of the human spirit. Watching the students work through their personal struggles reminded me of my own journey into acting - and how powerful this art form can be when it's rooted in truth. This was my first documentary and a true passion project. I poured every part of myself into it - writing, directing, producing, editing - to create a film that gives acting a deeper, more personal lens. It was my way of honoring the courage it takes to show up, be seen, and turn pain into purpose. This is the only original version of the film. There are no alternate or approved remakes. I've since moved on to new projects, but I remain grateful for this story - for the lessons, the growth, and the opportunity to share something real.
