As the sun begins to set on frontier life, a vigilante act rips a young community apart - bringing shame to citizens struggling to distance themselves from backwater violence. The mob responsible achieves its desired results - effectively driving the outlaw element out of town, but in the process perpetrates a terrible miscarriage of justice. In the aftermath, four men hang lifeless from the rafters like a gnarled signpost of conflicting ideas, foretelling the rapidly approaching end of the Old West.
