Successful lawyer Christian Weller has a reputation as a champion for the disenfranchised. His client, Frank Karmann, a suspect in a murder case, maintains his innocence. Weller manages to get him released from pretrial detention. The grateful client then seeks a personal connection with his lawyer and requests temporary asylum. While Karmann makes himself indispensable to Weller's family and wins over Weller's wife and son, evidence mounts for Christian Weller that his client might actually be the wanted murderer. He wants to get rid of the uninvited guest. However, Karmann is not so easily deterred. A battle ensues in which Christian Weller crosses his own boundaries.
