To meet the demand, Norwegian aquaculture has rapidly developed, taking the country to the top of the world production. In the month of January 2020, its export earnings broke a record at EUR677 million. But this massive industrialization is weighing on ecosystems. The import of Amazonian soybeans, one of the components of livestock pellets, by cargo ship increases deforestation, while food waste and excrement cause significant water pollution.
