There she meets 8 year old ELLIE, who is being abused by her father BOBBY RAY. Unable to get any help from the authorities, Angela beats Bobby Ray senseless and runs off with Ellie. On the road, evading the police, the two are helped by some and hindered by others as a maternal bond grows between them. Eventually captured, Ellie is returned home and Angela to jail leading to a shocking and devastating end that is sure to leave the audience in stunned silence and, as the title suggests, emotionally Empty.
