For the past twenty years or so, archaeologists have been trying to find traces of the Nabataeans, an ancient Arab trading people whose history has been lost. Monumental tombs dug into the rock at Petra in present-day Jordan and in the heart of the Saudi Arabian desert in the secret city of Hegra remain. Laïla Nehmé has set herself a crazy challenge: to retrace, thanks to an unprecedented expedition, the mythical incense route taken by Nabataean caravanners for three centuries, and to uncover the traces of three of them: Adiyû, Hînat and Muhawwirû.
