The young scientist Artashes Malyan organizes an expedition to scale the impregnable summit of Mount Kamir-Sar, where there appears to be a rich deposit of mercury and silver. The expedition will be sabotaged by the agents of a foreign chemical corporation led by Alvarez da Cortec, who in his youth visited the peak, and aware of the existing resources, wants to avoid at all costs that they are discovered by the Soviets.
