The life story of the legendary Polish pole vaulter - Wladyslaw Kozakiewicz. During the Olympic Games in Moscow '80, "Cossack" fights a fascinating duel with the representative of the USSR in front of millions of viewers. In the final, he wins gold and breaks the world record, but, when thrown off balance, he shows the Soviet audience an unsportsmanlike, offensive gesture. "Wal" is considered a political gesture and the life of our athlete changes from day to day. Initially, Kozakiewicz becomes a national hero and gains enormous popularity and influence. However, when a crisis of form comes, the distinguished pole vaulter is attacked by sports activists loyal to the communist system. Will the pole vaulter who loves pole vaulting above all else and always wants to win manage to get back to the top?
