Retiring to deliberate on a seventeen-year-old girl who has killed her friend's boyfriend, by stabbing him seventeen times with a knife, a jury of twelve are given two hours and twenty minutes to deliver a verdict. Given the options - murder or self-defense - minutes after being locked in the jury room, they are unanimous except for one.
