Monsieur Jourdain,a rich bourgeois ,wants to imitate the aristocrats .He hires masters,to teach him music,dance, philosophy and fencing.But his wildest dream is his daughter ,Lucile, marrying a noble.All his entourage ,teachers and aristocrats ,are spongers who make the most of his naivete .His wife is more sensible,and is not fooled by these delusions of grandeur.She knows that a son-in-law who's not from her condition is a nuisance to live with at home and she helps Cléonte ,a man of common birth ,to win her daughter's hand in marriage.
