In the south of France, 1960s, a wealthy viticulturist named Marcellin lives with his mother, grieving the loss of his fiancée and entertaining nothing but his work in the vineyard. That is, until he takes on 18-year-old Willie as an apprentice as penance for the boy's impulsive attempt to pilfer wine - and finds himself falling for him as rumors about their relationship swell amongst the gossips of the village.
