Leimert Park Voices

Directed by Paul Calderon, Alan Swyer
Leimert Park is known as the mecca for Black art on the West Coast. This film tracks its rich cultural history back to the hayday of Central Ave. to its current threatened demise. It features interviews of celebrated poets and artist like Father Ahmde of the famed Watt's Prophets and jazz musicians like trumpeter Roy Hargrove. All give their first hand accounts on the history of the space known at 'The Village'.
