Les Dépossédés

Directed by Mathieu Roy
2017    77mDocumentary
The disastrous effects of today's agri-food industry on the environment need no further proof, but its consequences on the workers of the land are rarely addressed in documentary. An ambitious project shot across the globe, "Les dépossédés" addresses the global food crisis from a peasant's point of view. While government-backed multinationals continue to develop solutions that are supposed to solve world hunger, the peasantry continues to be impoverished, pushed ever further towards bankruptcy, exodus, the paradoxical impossibility of feeding themselves, and even suicide.
