The years of GOELRO. This is a story about a village healer, Lukich, who was afraid of his son Stepan's unknown illness and believed that the electric light bulbs that had just appeared in the village were the source of the illness. He decides to destroy the source of the devilish light, but in doing so, he makes everyone, including his own son, worse off.
