Haunted by a tragedy that led her to take a step back from her career as a police officer, Alba Debrucker left Paris to recharge her batteries on the other side of the world, in the Marquesas Islands, where her best friend Heiani lives. Heiani is about to marry the handsome Kohu. On the morning of the ceremony, Heiani is found murdered on the beach, still wearing her wedding dress. The murder weapon: a Marquesan tapa cloth with mysterious inscriptions, forced down Heiani's throat until she suffocated. To understand what happened to her friend, Alba has no choice but to return to duty. She interferes with the investigation led by Teiki Bouchareb, the head of the local Gendarmerie, who hates anyone encroaching on his territory. Together, in the idyllic setting of the Marquesas Islands, they will try to put their differences aside to find the assassin before he claims another victim.
