Lou Friedlander is a popular columnist for the New York Daily News, writing about the people of bustling New York City. He falls in love with his neighbor Sarah Gantz, a young ballerina. The problem is that Sarah had been diagnosed as suffering from a debilitating condition, and that her career (and possibly her life) is about to reach a premature end.
