Young and handsome John Soegaard, meets another John Soegaard, a merchant marine cook, on leave from a whaler. Bearers of the same name, they strike up a friendship and wind up on a large country estate where both are wooed by the caretaker's pretty daughter, who mistakes the young man for a field hand and the cook for the returned-from-abroad owner of the estate.
