1929, the Soviet Union. A new reading of Andrei Platonov's "The Foundation Pit". The little girl, Nastya, is caring for her dying mother. She is moistening her lips with some lemon juice. The aging excavator, Nikita Chiklin, is watching her, eager to give the woman who once loved him a final kiss.
