Charley Cheddar knocks out an offender at school, and thinking he is done for, makes a quick get-away to avoid the police. He flies to London and conceals himself in the home of his newly-wed sister. He is well-nigh famished, and finding sanctuary in the dining room, hides under the table and helps himself, reaching up and taking a chance. The cook yells that the house is haunted and through a series of amusing scenes the terrified youth adds to the delusion and confusion. He meets his new brother-in-law for the first time, and finding that he is a judge, believes his chance for having the law on him improving momentarily. He disguises himself, but gets deeper into trouble all the time. Until it is revealed he is not a fugitive from justice, and the man he knocked out has happily recovered.
