Emperor Peter I had a jester named Balakirev and a beloved cat named Vasiliy, who even signed decrees. The Tsar wanted to prove that science could conquer nature, but the jester always contradicted him. He even got so carried away that Peter expelled him from the country. But the jester didn't lose his nerve: he went to Sweden and asked king Karl XII for land, then returned to Russia and showed the Tsar that he had purchased some land.
