In 2022, MEPs declared Hungary to be no longer a true democracy, describing the country as a "hybrid regime of electoral autocracy". In so doing, they strongly condemned the policies of Viktor Orban's government, which came to power in 2010. But in his own country, the nationalist and ultraconservative Prime Minister of the Fidesz party continues to be supported by a majority of the population. Who are his voters, and what exactly do they vote for? In the Hungarian countryside, where the government's popularity is at its highest, filmmaker Aron Szentpéteri embarks on a year-long investigation that takes him to Tiszavasvari, a small deindustrialized town of some 13,000 inhabitants. There, he heard the voices of those who live far from the capital and are trying to make their voices heard.
