A young man finds some fifty letters and a notebook forgotten there in an old abandoned farmhouse in Vans, Ardèche. Back in Paris, he discovers that it is a love correspondence between a young peasant woman and a captain during the First World War. The film recreates this love story, with images of Paris and old Le Havre as a backdrop.
