When I Am Bird tells the story of a woman's quest to change her fortunes. MuLa belongs to the Burmese Kajan tribe and for two years she has been living in Thailand with her husband and their sons. Her only daughter has stayed across the border. MuLa wants to bring her to a better world. An apprehensive and anxious atmosphere dictates the documentary's pace.
