Wooden Nickels is set in 1920s Chicago, during the notorious 'prohibition era'. It follows the character of Ruby, a young ballerina from Russia who fled to Chicago to pursue her dreams of dancing. Stuck in an abusive relationship, Ruby finds herself trapped in Chicago, years later, dancing at a Speakeasy -seeking a way out.
