Journalist Valentin is having difficulties with his daughter Zoe, which are exacerbated by his new girlfriend. During a heated argument, he slaps her, which Zoe reports to her friend Julie. Julie then accuses Valentin of sexually abusing Zoe, whereupon Zoe moves in with Julie's family. The web of lies continues until Valentin ends up in prison and events escalate.
