Osaka around 1950. Nisuke, who has a family in Tsuruhashi, returns to his hometown of Nakano Village after receiving the news that his father is in critical condition. He meets his younger brother Tadokichi and youngest brother Eizo for the first time in a long time, but they immediately begin to quarrel. Meanwhile, in Nakano Village, a manufacturer of specialty pig bristle brushes and the village chief's faction are at odds over the expansion of a factory.
