Giovanna Coimbra was elected in 2016 Miss Teen Rio de Janeiro. When she joined the Engineering course at UERJ (State University of Rio de Janeiro), she was soon included in the basketball team. Giovanna invested in an acting course. He auditioned for “Malhação”, at Globo, but it didn't happen. Her beginnings as an actress took place in 2019 in the soap opera “Verão 90”, on Globo. It was a short role, making the character of Débora Nascimento younger. In the same year came an invitation from Globo for a better role in “Bom Sucesso” where “Gabriela” lived, a character who, like Giovanna, liked basketball. In order to dedicate herself exclusively to the soap opera, she dropped out of Engineering and took a break from her modeling career.
