Kees Moerbeek is a Dutch artist from Nijmegen, best known as a paper engineer, illustrator, writer, and filmmaker. He gained international recognition for his pop-up books, having designed more than eighty titles that have sold millions of copies worldwide. Since 2014, he has focused mainly on the history of Nijmegen. Moerbeek has produced several documentaries about the city, including Nijmegen, zo mooi als het was, Nijmegen, in de tijd verdwaald, and Nijmegen, de verdwenen stad. In these films, he combines colorized archival photographs, animations, AI technology, historical reconstructions, and carefully selected music to show what Nijmegen once looked like and how it changed through war, demolition, and urban redevelopment.
