Marlin Fitzwater
Born November 24, 1942 (83 years)
writer, journalist, and former government spokesperson, known on screen for his involvement with The West Wing (1999), Da Ali G Show (2000), and Follow the Leader (2002). He served as White House Press Secretary for six years under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, making him one of the longest-serving press secretaries in U.S. history and the only one appointed by two different presidents. After his government career, Fitzwater worked as a writer-consultant on The West Wing and authored several books, including the novel Esther’s Pillow, based on his family history in rural Kansas. He has been married to Melinda Andrews since January 23, 1999.
