From Anna Antonovna, he learns that Olga has gone to the palace and is in a hurry for her. There is a fire in Spartacus' house. Varya suggests that Lugin wait until the wooden one burns out and get free. Olga tells Napoleon that she has not changed her mind: her consent to the meeting is the only way to get out of prison and talk to him.
