Aksentyev is found in Savitsky's apartment. He killed Savitsky and confesses to Usoltseva. However, it later turns out that Aksentyev had talked himself into someone else's murder. During the investigative actions, a diary is found in the apartment, in which Savitsky described his experiments on Aksentyev when he was still in a coma and was connected to a ventilator. In particular, he blocked the oxygen, preventing breathing. Thanks to this, Savitsky somehow communicated with Aksentyev despite the fact that he was in a coma. In addition, they learn from the diary of the cop that when Aksentyev was still a teenager, someone tried to drown him. But that's where the recordings end. Aksentyev persuades the operas to repeat the experiment with strangulation. After all, for some reason Savitsky did it. Usoltseva strangles Aksentyev - and suddenly he seems to come out of his body, shouting that his teacher drowned him. The opera understands that, perhaps, Aksentyev was the first victim of Vodyanoy, who managed to escape. Aksentyev was at school at the time, which means that Vodyanoi can be a school teacher. They go to school, but none of the male teachers fit the profile of the killer. Aksentyev is recognized by his homeroom teacher and faints. When she wakes up, she says that all this time Aksentyev was considered dead. He and many other children who were at the sports camp. A huge tanker truck lost control, drove into the camp and exploded. Everyone who was there died. After that, Aksentyev recalls that he was in the sports section, where they taught contactless combat with the help of thoughts, and there he was invited to this camp. But Aksentyev does not remember what happened in the camp and how he managed to survive. The opera returns to the department, and Dolgov is waiting for them there. He is also trying to help operas in the search for Vodyanoi, secretly collecting information in the emergency room about those who sought help with head wounds. Usoltseva also continues her search, which only Aksentyev knows about. But he, in a hurry, publicly admits a terrible tactlessness towards her, and Usoltseva, offended by him, leaves. At home, Surovtsev is waiting for her alive.
