The last programme in the present series follows an all-female, graduate team of environmental health officers in Birmingham. The 'Sparkies' (dubbed because they work Sparkbrook and are bright sparks) attend some 30 calls each day. They rummage through maggot-ridden bin bags dumped in a car park, carry out detective work on leaking drains, attempt to stop a barking dog, and worst of all, inspect an abandoned council flat in a filthy and verminous condition.
