5.4 million square miles. -76 degrees Fahrenheit. And a plethora of untapped natural resources - ANTARCTICA. The southern-most point on our planet. A sought-after destination for extreme adventurers and thrill seekers. Basking in white snow and rich with wildlife, Antarctica is one of the few places on Earth that remains untouched by human exploitation. However, in 2041, this could all change, with the expiration of an international treaty that protects this pristine land, Antarctica could be at risk and if ever exploited, humanity as we know will be over. Antarctica a #looksouth expedition is comprised of (3) friends: Juan Pablo Montejo, the first Colombian to reach the South Pole using only skis, Abbas Jafarian, the first Iranian to reach the South Pole using only skis, and José Francisco, a Venezuelan businessman. They will be accompanied by Sebastián an Antarctic Logistics Expeditor.

    Welcome to the white continent!The expedition travels to Antarctica, one of the purest places on the planet. Their goal is to complete the last degree sky, a 111-km walk on skies that will take them across to the southernmost point, the south pole. They arrive from Chile to the Union Glacier, a support base and start preparing to cross Antarctica.

    A promise for the future of the planetAt Union Glacier, the adventurers will have several days to acclimate and train before leaving for the 89th parallel. During this stay they meet Robert Swann, the Antarctic defender, from whom they learn about the Antarctic Treaty signed by several countries set to expire in 2041.

    Looking South from aboveOnce they arrive at the 89th parallel, the explorers are left to themselves, planes and support teams drop and go and so a 10-day walk to the South Pole begins. As challenges arise Juan reminisces on conversations, he had with first adventurers to fly in special costumes over Antarctica. Our explorers continue on their journey and learn of a brand of off-road vehicles especially prepared to tour the continent without leaving more than their track marks.

    Walk, rest and walk...The days are getting colder and harder. For our 3 friends their dream of reaching the south pole seems to be getting father away. But they are committed to working with the hostile environment and learning to appreciate the beauty and vastness of nature, respecting it every step of the way. The quick encounter with a group of women from the British Army encourages them to push through.

    The South Pole, more than a goal, a commitmentThe explorers finally completed their journey to the South Pole. They invite us into their celebration where we learn how impactful it has been and how their perspectives have changed. A heightened appreciation for life is present and a newfound understanding of why the Antarctic Treaty must be preserved shared. The explorers adopted Robert Swann's mission: "protect Antarctica and educate the world on the importance of the 2041 treaty, so that this place remains as pure and pristine as they found it."
