China: One Lockdown Too Many

China, the very first country hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, is also the last to lift restrictions. Chinese residents have spent much of 2022 in repeated, strict lockdowns to curb the circulation of the virus. For the most time in years, a protest movement critical of the CPP has sprung to life: protesters are angry that the rest of the world has got back to normal while they have to live as though it's still 2020.
