During the First World War in Paris, Germaine Gondrecourt, a well-to-do twenty-year-old young lady lives with the memory of William Robert Sharpness, a young Englishman she fell for eighteen months before in Houlgate. Since then, she has been following his daily exploits given that the man of her heart has become an ace of English aviation.
