Despite his intense dislike of the magazine, Captain Edumnd Blackadder enters the competition as the winner will likely escape the trenches for a while. Unfortunately, Blackadder has no artistic talent and must rely on other skills (specifically: deceit) in order to win. - Corporal Punishment
E2Corporal PunishmentFaced with the possibility of being ordered to advance, as well as starvation in the trenches, Captain Blackadder decides to kill two birds with one stone by eating a pigeon carrying his orders. Unfortunately, General Melchett has been using his own pet bird to deliver the message, and the loss of "Speckled Jim" sends him on a rampage, determined to punish those responsible. - Major Star
E3Major StarIn order to improve morale, General Melchett asks Captain Blackadder to organize a variety show in the traditional British music-hall style. Seeing another opportunity to leave the trenches, Blackadder agrees - despite detesting variety shows and being horrified at the lack of talent available to him. - Private Plane
E4Private PlaneCaptain Blackadder, Lieutenant George, and Private Baldrick see joining the Air Corps as a great way of sitting in a classroom instead of fighting on the front lines. Unfortunately for them, the course is taught by Squadron Commander Flasheart, who lives for danger- much like his nemesis, the infamous Red Baron. - General Hospital
E5General HospitalAngry that his plans always seem to fall into enemy hands, General Melchett asks Captain Blackadder to "winkle out" the spy he suspects is housed in the hospital. Blackadder immediately suspects the the patient with the thick German accent and a burning curiosity about troop movements, but decides to embark on an extremely thorough (and more importantly: long) investigation as a way of staying out of the trenches. - Goodbyeee
E6GoodbyeeeAfter years of futile trench warfare, General Melchett gives the order for the "big push": a suicidal charge across the battlefield towards hundreds of German machine guns. Desperate to avoid participating, Captain Blackadder hatches a plan to convince his superiors that he has gone insane and therefore cannot go into combat.
