Chicago Med • Season 1 Ratings & Reviews
AV Club
Carrie Raisler
There isn't anything groundbreaking about what Chicago Med (or Fire, or P.D.) is doing on an episode-by-episode basis, but that's not really the point. The point is to create solid dramas about the people whose lives revolve around saving others.
TheWrap
Mekeisha Madden Toby
Wolf knows how to entertain us with his brand of gritty, pretty crime procedurals and with stronger character development, Chicago Med could improve its prognosis.
TV Fanatic
Elizabeth Harlow
Overall, Chicago Med looks like it will be able to strike that sweet spot, balancing interesting medical cases with relatable human drama. Here's hoping that it not only finds it's way to the top of the Dick Wolf oeuvre.
Los Angeles Times
Mary McNamara
A drama may not have to be dark to be good, but it does have to be, well, dramatic.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Rob Owen
There's certainly nothing in the pilot, the only episode made available for review, to make a viewer sit up and take notice. Chicago Med is more of a show to comfortably fall asleep to.
Yahoo! TV
Ken Tucker
Hey, compared to CBS's Code Black, Chicago Med is David Mamet stuff.
The Hollywood Reporter
Tim Goodman
Even graded on the Dick Wolf Franchise Curve, Chicago Med is spectacularly underwhelming.
Salt Lake Tribune
Scott D. Pierce
It's sort of the TV equivalent of comfort food - you know exactly what you're going to get when you start watching. And it's an OK way to spend and hour parked on the couch.
Boston Herald
Mark A. Perigard
Unless it gets an injection of intelligence and creativity stat, Chicago Med will go down as ER for dummies.
New York Post
Robert Rorke
Wolf has made a fortune for NBC with his Law & Order franchise, and Chicago Fire and Chicago PD suggest the formation of a second dynasty. But Chicago Med? Not so much.
CinemaBlend
Laura Hurley
Hopefully, Chicago Med will continue to stand on its own and will find a way to distinguish itself from other hospital dramas in the future.
USA Today
Robert Bianco
In the end, what you're getting from Med is TV at its least demanding and most dispensable: It's not awful, but that's only because no one involved is expending the energy needed to reach the ranks of the truly terrible.
Uncle Barky
Ed Bark
Viewers looking for the best new medical drama of this still young season can find it in Chicago Med. Then again, there are only two of them so far.
Philadelphia Inquirer
Tirdad Derakhshani
The writers fill Chicago Med with just enough character work to make the players interesting. So what if they lift every hospital drama cliche, from '60s classic Dr. Kildare to ER and Chicago Hope?
New York Times
Neil Genzlinger
Chicago Med is so exactly what you expect it to be that there's practically no point describing it, a bad thing if you like your shows innovative and unpredictable, but a good thing if you can't get enough trauma room gore and dramatics.
RogerEbert.com
Brian Tallerico
Like Chicago Fire,Chicago Med is a really quick hour of television. Nothing lags, nothing bores, even the familiar.
Variety
Brian Lowry
It's possible to admire the competence of Chicago Med's execution - and little moments, with Oliver Platt as the gentle chief of psychiatry - while at the same time feeling as numb as if a strong sedative were being administered.
Observer
Vinnie Mancuso
Chicago Med is an edition to the Chicago franchise (see: P.D, Fire), but I can't see much value here outside of hardcore fans of that particular franchise.
Boston Globe
Matthew Gilbert
No ER, this.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Gail Pennington
The original Chicago Med pilot, which was built into an episode of Chicago Fire and is widely available online, was tedious.
