S4 • E415 60mMoushumi is a 10 year old girl who has two younger brothers. Moushumi studies in a school under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, in which she does not have to pay fees and also gets scholarship or stipend from time to time. Her father is a daily wage laborer as a carpenter. The household expenses depend on his daily earnings. Mousumi's mother takes care of the entire household. One day suddenly in an accident, the right side of Moushumi's father's body is paralyzed. His treatment is free in a government hospital, but after being discharged from the hospital, in order to meet the expenses of expensive medicines, Mousumi's mother starts working at home, which earns her a few rupees a month. Her family is going through a very bad phase, even Moushumi doesn't even have a new copy and pencil which she needs so much and she is working with last year's copy pencil. She repeatedly asks her school's administrator about her stipend, but every time he answers that one of his men goes to find out about the stipend, but nothing is known. Moushumi is very upset seeing the condition of her house. On one hand the expenses of his father's claim and on the other hand his mother is working day and night. One afternoon Mausumi calls her brothers to study as usual but then tells them to go back and play. After he leaves, Mousumi locks the doors of the house and sets herself on fire.
