In Salisbury a gang used specialist drilling equipment in a quarter of a million pound robbery of a post office. Several witnesses may not have realised they saw a crime in progress and could supply crucial clues. And the tragic murder of 84-year-old Ivy Batten at her home near Honiton in Devon. A pair of gloves and other clues left behind could prompt viewers to lead police to her killer.

    02/18/1988It is nearly four months since 60-year-old Kathy Walsh was murdered in her south London flat. Detectives are hoping the reconstruction of her last known movements could prompt viewers to shed new light on the crime. Who was the young, fair-haired man who arranged to meet Kathy the day before she died? What happened to her DHSS allowance book and where is the brown car that was seen outside her flat the night of the murder? In Oxford, last December, an armed hold-up of a security van went badly wrong. Hundreds of shoppers looked on as the gang shot at a police car before fleeing empty-handed. They left behind crucial clues. Fiona Gallant , a teenager from Colchester, was murdered on 18 December last year. She was last seen talking to the driver of a distinctive lorry. Fifteen witnesses have helped compile a picture of the vehicle which viewers may identify.

    03/17/1988Last month in the Cleveland town of Hartlepool, a cash security van was attacked as it stopped at a housing estate sub-post office. Five masked men, armed with pickaxes, a shotgun and ammonia spray, got away with many thousand pounds in cash and stamps. Witnesses who tried to call the police found their phones were dead. The gang had cut lines to the whole estate. Five cars were used in the robbery, all of them stolen in the North. One, a rare type of BMW, was taken in September. Where was it kept for those four months? A viewer who remembers seeing the car could lead police to the men they must catch.

Decorated for her work behind enemy lines in the Second World War, Mrs Macan later became well-known as a dog breeder and judged at Crufts this year. Dog lovers from all parts of the country visited her cottage in Berkhamsted and could help police with their hunt for the killer. And from Redditch the face of a conman operating throughout the North has been recorded on security cameras. Do you recognise him?

Suzanne was deaf, and tonight police will be making a special appeal to other deaf people and revealing new evidence about her murder. In Liverpool in July armed robbers terrorised a supermarket manager while they raided his store. Police have uncovered important clues which they hope may jog someone's memory.
