His friends' comments about what Mercedes' father said hit him hard. He confronts Mercedes about it, but she can't remember exactly what was said. Outside the warehouse, a father like that has little chance of building anything. And it all happens on Valentine's Day, which doesn't exactly improve the atmosphere.
