In 2017, the number of times the Japan Air Self-Defense Force had to scramble (quickly deploy) their fighter jets exceeded 900. This response came as a result of threats primarily from China followed by Russia. Japan faces constant threats from the sky that it can't always directly see. Focusing on the activities on Yokota Air Base and Misawa Air Base, we will delve into the air defense strategy of the Japan Air Self Defense Force and U.S. Armed Forces.
