In order to prevent crime in the town of Creek Mud, the police commissioner orders all of his law officers- including Deputy Dawg- to learn to ride and work with horses. Deputy Dawg is afraid of horses. Unfortunately, our hero picks a trouble-making and stubborn mule to ride. The animal does not like him. The police commissioner warns him: "It's ride or else." The commissioner finally kicks the mule out of the service.
