The 1960s, the world is on the brink of nuclear war. Soviet intelligence learns of an impending strike from US military bases in West Germany. Understanding that a response ultimatum would start a catastrophe, Brezhnev decides to enter into a secret agreement with West German Chancellor Willy Brandt. Both politicians are taking a risk: if their contacts become known, one will be expelled from the party, and the other will be impeached.
