Durban Beach Rescue follows the lifeguards of South Africa's Golden Mile Beach during the height of the December holiday season. As temperatures hover over 40 degrees Celsius, around 2 million visitors per season flock to the water's edge.

    Mass RescueThere's panic at The Wedge when a flash rip sweeps 150 bathers off the sand bank and into deep treacherous water. Most of the bathers can't swim. This is a lifeguard's worst nightmare, and the odds are stacked against them.
