Chris Tashima won the Innovative Artist Award at the 2019 Hollywood Silver Screen Festival for his body of work. Chris stars in Stacey Hayashi's Go for Broke (2018), and won an Academy Award for his film Visas and Virtue (1997). "Visas and Virtue" is a 1997 narrative short film directed by Chris, which stars Chris, Susan Fukuda, Diana Georger and Lawrence Craig. It was inspired by the story of Holocaust rescuer Chiune "Sempo" Sugihara, who is known as "The Japanese Schindler".
