Fear the Walking Dead - S4 • E16 Ratings & Reviews
TV Fanatic

Overall, I did enjoy this season -- despite my recent reviews hinting otherwise. It's just unfortunate that while Martha was trying to make everyone else "strong," she ended up making the second half of the season weak.

This episode makes me sad, because Morgan just won't give up on Martha.

Fear the Walking Dead's finale left a lot to be desired, plain and simple.

Feels less like a season finale than it does a series finale. Were the latter true, I'd be more at peace in writing this show off. Because in its current state, this isn't the Fear I once eagerly championed... That show is dead.

Morgan's new lease on life gives Fear the Walking Dead an interesting new location for Season 5 to explore.

As "... I Lose Myself" ended, the group set off on their first do-gooder mission, and, it seemed, the show had been reborn as something new and very different.

It was overlong, sure, but that's kind of a show hallmark now. Just below the skin though, it was riddled with coincidences that undermined the intrigue. To be fair, so did most of this half-season. I was just hoping for more savagery.

A unique pastel gray color palette that makes it look like a Sunday comic strip. And in a twist that wasn't fully established until Sunday's season finale, it finally found a distinctively different thematic engine from The Walking Dead: hope.

Creatively, Fear seems like it's at a bit of a dead end, and integrating at least some of its power players like Alicia and Strand into TWD seems like a worthy ending to the series.

If things continue down this path, I have very low hopes for Season 5.
